Bikurgurl’s 100 Word Wednesday: Week 12
Tiger’s Nest
During our trip to Bhutan last year we visited Paro Taktsang ; popularly known as Tiger’s Nest in upper Paro. The monastery hangs on a precarious cliff and the trek to it rather steep and narrow with the deep ravine next to you. Sometimes the path can be slippery with loose gravel, sand or mud.
Some people took ponies to ride up to the monastery. I felt pity for these animals carrying them on its back on this arduous journey. Our guide discouraged us to trek up as most of the group including my mother were elderly. He even frightened us by narrating an incident of how a Thai lady tourist riding a pony had fallen off the cliff.

Yes it’s very beautiful . My only regret is I couldn’t trek up to it because my mother was with me.

Lovely images of the monastery! I can understand the worry of taking the ponies up, but it sounds like another trip is in the works. Thank you so much for joining us this week 🙂
