FFfAW Challenge-Week of April 18, 2017
The final journey
Every evening the old man would come with his rickety cart full of wooden planks and park it opposite to our sprawling cottage. It was unsightly but we have known him from our childhood days and could do little to stop him. He lived with his ailing wife a few yards away from our home in a shabby little hut. In the morning he took his cart to the market to sell his timber which was his livelihood.
It had been a few days we noticed the cart missing from front of our house. I was curious and walked down the streets to reach his hut. The hut was locked from outside and I asked his neighbor about the whereabouts of the old man.
“His wife passed away a few days back and he has returned to his village,” he said as a matter of fact.
