Pesky pest! Here we have some nasty pests that bite! They look like the one in your photo but have yellow on their wings. They ruin the tranquility of a nice ride through the woods and the horses are driven mad by their biting.
It is the season for it and as we have had an abnormally wet summer the pests are worse than usual. But by September they will be gone. So “this too shall pass” .
